2011 Reedy River Duck Derby

The 2011 Reedy River Duck Derby held on May 7, 2011 was one of the most successful Duck Derbies to date. The proceeds will benefit the Mauldin Miracle League (MML), Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (GAIHN), EarlyAct FirstKnight, Polio Plus and Partners in Agriculture.

The 2011 Reedy River Duck Derby was a fun-filled day with tons of entertainment such as a Mauldin Miracle League game, a variety of children's participation activities, displays by local artists, and at 2:30 PM, 10,000 little yellow rubber duckies were put into the Reedy River while thousands of onlookers watched and cheered the ducks in their race over the falls and to the finish line.

Sponsored by BI-LO Charities, the Grand Prize was a year's supply of groceries from BI-LO, Second Prize was an original painting by Urban Peacock, Third Prize was free childcare by Park Place Children's Center and over 40 more fabulous prizes were awarded to the first ducks to cross the finish line. The Grand Prize winner was Paul Hennicken. The Reedy River Duck Derby is made possible each year by the generosity of many local sponsors who provide cash, prize and services donations.

The Rotary Club of Greenville Evening, a service organization of local business men and women, holds the Reedy River Duck Derby annually as its primary community service project. This is the seventh consecutive year that the group has organized this charitable fundraiser. Rotarians traditionally develop community service projects to address many of today's most critical issues, especially children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy and violence. Rotary Club members worldwide work to achieve the key Rotary objective of "Service above Self."

The Rotary Club of Greenville Evening is proud to announce it will move forward with another spectacular race on May 5th, 2012 with the goal of racing 10,000 ducks over the falls benefiting local charities including Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (GAIHN), Mauldin Miracle League (MML), and EarlyAct FirstKnight. We will also support Rotary International Charities including Polio Plus and World Hunger. We intend this race to be our biggest and best yet.
